How to Improve Your Sleep Hygiene

How to Improve Your Sleep Hygiene

Many things, such as your bedtime routine, can affect the quality of the sleep you get. Here are some tips on how to improve your sleep hygiene.

Everyone knows how important hygiene is to your health. You should shower every day, and definitely brush your teeth, floss, and use mouthwash. These are small but important steps to help keep yourself feeling good and prevent illness. But did you know that sleep hygiene is just as important? Many things, such as your bedtime routine, can affect the quality of the sleep you get. Here are some tips on how to improve your sleep hygiene

Get More Exercise and Balance Your Diet

It can be hard to get enough exercise while stuck at home all the time, but there are ways to do it. While designing your exercise regimen, figure out if you need to balance out your diet or switch to a different dietary plan. Getting the right kind of exercise can make it easier for you to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed. Also, don’t have caffeine or dairy before you go to bed, and try to restrict what and how much you eat before bed, even if you are fond of midnight snacks.

Kick Tech Out of Bedtime

You might be used to crawling into bed and scrolling on your phone until your eyes get too heavy. Even so, limit your screen time at night and eliminate the technology use when you want to go to sleep. Blue light plays tricks on your brain and will, consequently, keep you up longer than you want to be. This, in turn, ruins your sleep hygiene

Get a Better Mattress

We also recommend replacing your current mattress with one that is much better. Think about your sleeping style and your sleeping habits. The pros here at Sleepwell Mattress are more than happy to help you select a mattress that makes you more comfortable and enhances your sleep hygiene.

Start a Healthier Sleep Schedule

Our final piece of advice is to rethink your sleep schedule. Make yourself a cup of decaf tea, engage in some light stretching, hop in the shower, or read a book. Get your body used to a rhythm where you turn in around the same time every evening and you get up around the same time every morning. Your body will thank you!
