A plush mattress is a perfect place to have breakfast in bed!

In the past five years, more and more mattress shoppers have been choosing a plush mattress over any other type. This is a crazy increase, as, for many years, orthopedic mattresses and memory foam mattresses reigned supreme in the mattress selling industry. Now, mattress retailers can’t keep enough plush mattresses in their stores! So what is it about a plush mattress that has them flying off the shelves? Is it their ability to be more comfortable than other mattresses or something else? Read this to find out more about a plush mattress and all it offers!

What is a Plush Mattress?

A plush mattress is a mattress that is much more comfortable than the average. It usually has layers of a mixture of materials like memory foam, fibers, and even latex that comprise the super comfy top layer. Most people nowadays just aren’t interested in a firm mattress, since a lot of people use their mattresses for other things than sleeping, like studying, watching TV, or even having breakfast in bed. The bed is just as comfortable to sit on rather than solely being there for sleep support. In addition, plush mattresses are still able to conform to pressure points and lesson tossing and turning at night for those that suffer from poor sleep.

Plush Pros and Cons

As mentioned earlier, plush mattresses are a great solution for anyone who wants a lot of comforts when they sleep, and it’s also a great option for anyone who wants to have a bed that is more versatile for eating, watching TV, etc. However, there are a few downsides to a plush mattress to take note of before just purchasing one with little thought. A plush mattress, unfortunately, has a problem with body impressions, meaning the mattress will start to sink and conform to our body shape over time, leaving the less effective emphasis on pressure points. All mattress types eventually succumb to this, but in a plush’s case, it just doesn’t take as long. However, there are ways to prolong the lifespan of a plush mattress. The best way is to occasionally flip or turn the mattress. By sleeping on the other side, you will allow for the other side to “bounce back” close to its original shape. In addition, it is more likely to lose its “plushness” by around 20-25% over a few years of use. While a plush mattress is not the right choice for everyone, it still remains a great mattress to enjoy today.
